Scholar Stories! 20 Years of Success

It warms our hearts to see our scholars succeed after they leave our program in 8th grade. Over the past 20 years, 97% of our alumni graduate from high school and 96% go on to college, technical school, the military and careers. Here’s a glimpse of three successful CSFB alumni and where they are now. Joe Flemke graduated from CSFB-affiliate school Sacred Heart of Mary. After high school, he earned an engineering degree from Capitol College. He’s now an Advanced Systems Engineer at General Dynamics Mission Systems. Joe believes that since CSFB believes in you, “it instills a hope that [...]

Keeping Families Together…For the Win!

We are so enjoying all the 20th-year stories that our CSFB scholars, alumni and parents have been sending in. We especially appreciate the ones from families who’ve had multiple children participate in our program. CSFB accepts all siblings in each family, keeping families supported together. The Smiley sisters, for example, are CSFB alumni. Both girls worked hard in school and were recognized with multiple awards and honors for their scholastic achievements. Today, these inspiring young women have graduated from high school and are continuing their academic endeavors in college! For many years, my children were recipients of Children’s Scholarship Fund [...]

20 Years, Many Events! CSFB’s Favorite Fundraisers and Events

We are having so much fun celebrating Children’s Scholarship Fund Baltimore’s 20th anniversary! As we celebrate, we’ve been reminiscing on some of CSFB’s favorite fundraisers and events from the past 20 years. Each event was done to engage the different members of our organization – scholars, parents and donors alike! Here are some of the most memorable to us. “City Learns” Scavenger Hunt In 2010 and 2011, CSFB held Scavenger Hunt Races that took teams to different locations in Baltimore City! Registration costs went directly to support CSFB. Beginning and ending at the Waterfront Hotel & Bar in Fells Point, […]

CSFB Celebrates School Choice by Visiting our Students

Celebrated every January, National School Choice Week is the world’s largest annual celebration of opportunity in education. School Choice means providing the best opportunities to help children succeed in school and in life. To celebrate National School Choice Week, CSFB Program Administrator Joanne Sanders visited CSFB participating schools to celebrate school choice with the students. We were able to sit down with her to talk about her experience and why this week is important to celebrate. Why is it important to celebrate National School Choice Week and acknowledge school choice? I feel that it’s an opportunity to be a voice [...]

20 Years, 20 Stories (and More!)

This school year marks Children’s Scholarship Fund Baltimore’s (CSFB) 20th Anniversary and we have so many stories to tell! For 20 years we have been serving low-income Baltimore families to give their children the education that best suits them. CSFB has had an incredibly positive impact on so many people – from scholars to parents to donors and volunteers. Here is just a small collection of some of the stories we’ve been sharing with our network. The kind words, encouraging posts, and continued donations and support are proof that CSFB offers a valued and important service. And we are honored [...]
