Children’s Scholarship Fund Baltimore (CSFB) has supported school choice for local Baltimore City students and families since 1998 when founder Suzanna Duvall brought the mission to Baltimore City to improve educational opportunities for families by providing partial scholarships without regard to race, ethnicity, religious belief, or zip code. This commitment to inclusivity is at the heart of CSFB’s scholarship program and has helped match thousands of students from low-income families to schools that were better choices for them. Twenty-six years and more than 8,000 scholarships later, CSFB is more committed than ever to making school choice a reality for our community’s most underserved families!

For the 2023-2024 academic year, we were delighted to increase our support of CSFB scholar families by raising the individual scholarship cap from $2,000 to $2,500 per school year. We also awarded 275 individual scholarships and filled empty seats among 41 independent schools in the 2023-2024 school year. And we couldn’t have done any of it without the help and support of our donors!

Our donors come from a wide variety of backgrounds. From corporations and local businesses, to game-changing foundations and individuals, every donation, big and small, works to make a profound difference in the lives of our scholars. The facts speak for themselves:

  • 98% of 8th-grade graduates go on to graduate from high school.
  • 95% of CSFB graduates attend one of Baltimore City’s top five public, charter, or magnet high schools.
  • 84% of CSFB scholars graduate from college in four years.
  • 12% of CSFB scholars obtain advanced degrees after college.

“We are beyond grateful for this opportunity for our family. Ari and Nya really enjoy being a part of the Mary Mother Lange Catholic school family and they are excited to continue their educational journey. Thank you for making it possible for Ari and Nya to receive a better education.”

“We would like to say thank you to the supporters of CSFB. This scholarship has played a major part in Dylan gaining an understanding of how important academic achievement is and how to be grateful, in addition to keeping him in a comfortable, safe environment, where he enjoys learning with his favorite teachers and friends. Thank you again.”

“I want to thank everyone who is a part of the Children’s Scholarship Fund Baltimore…Education is very important to me and I instill that in my son. He has maintained A’s and B’s since he started school. Keep doing what you are doing to assist those in need of a little financial assistance. God bless you!!”

“Thank you, CSFB, for your support. Keeping me in a good school, like Cathedral Christian Academy, is important to both me and my mom. I really appreciate this opportunity.

June 1, 2024 marks the beginning of our annual end of the fiscal year scholarship fundraising campaign. This year’s “It’s A Match!” campaign is a month-long fundraising effort geared toward getting a headstart on CSFB’s fundraising goal for the 2024-2025 school year. This year we hope you can help us raise enough funds for four additional student scholarships, so that they can find the perfect school match for next year. We are confident that we will be able to achieve this goal. Why? Because CSFB plus your support is a match for our scholars!

In celebration of our scholarship increase, we are asking donors to help us match the $2,500 scholarship cap. While any amount (big or small) helps support our efforts in making a big impact in the lives of students, we hope you will consider donations of $2,500, $250, or $25 to help us reach our fundraising goal of $10,000! Just think – if 10 people generously donated $250 each (or 100 people donated $25), that would support one full scholarship for the entire school year. Help four deserving scholars whose family may not have the means, make the perfect match to the school of their choice. Won’t you donate today?

Please consider sharing our campaign with your family and friends. Follow us on social media (Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram) to share our campaign with your social networks. Thank you!
